University of Canberra Academic Program

Academic Program (454KB)

The Academic Program lists all courses from the University's Register of Courses that are open to new admissions in a given year. The Program is the authoritative source of information on courses for offer for University admissions, marketing and other purposes.

The Academic Program does not include courses that are closed to new admissions but open to continuing enrolments.

Other key sources of course information are course fees for international and domestic postgraduate students at http://www.canberra.edu.au/courses-units/fees and course and unit descriptions in the online University Handbook (courses and units database) at http://www.canberra.edu.au/courses/

The Academic Program is compiled from information supplied by the faculties and formally approved by Academic Board once a year. The undergraduate program for the following year is normally approved at the beginning of the year. The postgraduate program for the following year is approved mid-year. New courses and course changes approved at each Board meeting are then incorporated after that meeting. Opening or closing a teaching period for a course on the Academic Program may be approved by the Dean of the relevant faculty.

The Program is correct as approved by Academic Board and as at the date indicated in the page footer. The University reserves the right to amend the Academic Program without notice.

How to use the Program

The Program is presented as an Excel file with separate tabs for:

  • Undergraduate courses
  • Postgraduate coursework courses, and
  • Postgraduate courses by research.

The following details are provided for each course:

  • Course type (level)
  • Course code and version (change to academic requirements for a course usually requires a new course version)
  • UAC code
  • CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) code where applicable, indicating courses open to international students studying in Australia on student visas
  • Course name
  • Award (abbreviated) to which the course leads
  • Course duration in full-time equivalent years (note that this reflects the credit point value of the course; courses may be delivered over a different period, eg intensively, part-time only)
  • Faculty
  • Teaching periods open to domestic admissions, international admissions (onshore and/or offshore - see CRICOS above), and offering full-time enrolment from course commencement
  • Special features or arrangements affecting delivery, eg online, intensive, restricted access.

In addition to the current year's Program, the file includes the following year's Program, as provisional or as approved by Academic Board where applicable.

Please note that for useability the Print Area has been set to print the current year's Program only. It must be reset to include the following year's Program.

The Explanatory notes tab provides information on the Program and its use. The Document history tab sets out changes since the Program was last approved by Academic Board.

The Academic Program is maintained by the Academic Policy and Review unit (APR) in Student and Academic Services. Inquiries should be directed to Gay Landau Gay.Landau@canberra.edu.au
