UC joins in Prime Minister's apology

The Council and staff of the University of Canberra join in the apology made by the Prime Minister on 13 February in saying 'sorry' for past injustices, and particularly for the forced removal of Indigenous children from their families. In our 40th year as a higher education institution we explicitly acknowledge that the University is built on land for which the Ngunnawal People have custodial responsibility. The first commitment in our current Strategic Plan is to ensure that respect for Australia's traditional owners and concern for their current circumstances influences our plans and actions.

This statement was drafted by the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor and has been endorsed by the University of Council
