In 2014, Nip was named the Young Canberra Citizen of the Year for her contribution to the community. Nip volunteers as a Lifeline crisis and suicide counsellor, for which she has received formal training in suicide intervention and is a fully accredited counsellor. Nip received the ACT Youth Interact Scholarship in 2011 to cover the costs of this training and has been recognised as a young emerging leader in this important community service field by winning the ACT Chief Minister's Inclusion Award for Emerging Young Leaders, also in 2014. The 22-year-old contributes regularly to Canberra initiatives such as the Canberra Services Club and the Canberra Sri Lankan Community and has also assisted many young people through her work with the ACT Youth Advisory Council and for this received an Individual Community Service award in 2014.
In 2015, Nip has been named a Respect Champion of the YWCA Canberra's Respect NOW campaign, which is dedicated to preventing violence against women in the community and implementing primary prevention initiatives. Nip is also a proud part-owner of GG's Flowers, a local socially sustainable florist that is committed to creating meaningful employment opportunities for those with disabilities.
