Graduate profile:
Mark Bauer
Director and Canberra Branch Manager, Manteena, Canberra
1996 - graduated with a Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics from the University of Canberra (which is now the new Bachelor of Building and Construction Management).
“I have always held an interest in construction and the UC course was a mix of theory and practice which suited what I was looking for. Being from the country, Canberra was a location which was large enough to provide career opportunities yet attractive to live in without being in a large city".
I always wanted to be a builder or an architect.
My best memories of UC are meeting other students both associated with the construction degree and while on residences.
My first job out of uni was working as a project administrator / manager for Manteena Pty Ltd (project and construction management company).
My career highlight was seeing my first construction project as a project manager being successfully completed.
After this, seeing the company achieve industry recognition by winning various awards for building excellence at the annual Master Builders Awards.
Today I am Canberra Branch Manager for Manteena Pty Ltd.
In the future I want to see the company continue to grow and deliver high quality projects and provide staff [including new graduates from UC] with opportunities to work in a progressive and successful construction organisation.
And just for fun....
My hero is my mum.
My favourite food is salt and pepper calamari.
My favourite band is U2.
The book I’m reading at the moment is, Never Go Back by Robert Goddard.
If I ruled the world I would bring an end to poverty.
