2001 - graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Psychology (Honours) from the University of Canberra.

“I chose UC because it seemed more like a small community than some of the other universities that I checked out. My preference was to attend a tertiary institution where I felt comfortable, particularly coming from a coastal town. I was also drawn to the degree title – ‘Applied Psychology’ as it seemed to have a practical emphasis.

I enjoyed a supportive learning environment that helped in developing my research, presentation and writing skills, especially in the discipline of psychology. The undergraduate course covered a broad range of subjects in psychology, which has encouraged me to take advantage of a broad range of work opportunities.

I also completed gender studies as my major and I think having a diversity of perspectives on how to approach an issue has been useful.”

About the Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award was initiated by the UC Foundation in 2000 to honour and acknowledge our graduates. The Award is presented in recognition of the contribution our graduates are making to their community and profession.

Call for Nominations

Nominations are now welcome for distinguished alumni to be recognised this year as part of our University of Canberra 40th Anniversary celebrations.

Nominees are requested to provide a brief one page curriculum vitae that addresses the following four areas:

How has this person contributed to their profession?
How has this person contributed to the community?
How have they 'made a difference'?
Outstanding achievements/recognition, or characteristics.
