Lu Rees Archives Celebration

The UC Alumni Network hosted the Lu Rees Archives Celebration on Wednesday 23 March at the Ann Harding Conference Centre. The celebration was attended by over 180 people, including, Alumni, University staff, students, donors, friends and family and representatives of the Embassies of Argentina, the Federal Republic of Germany, Spain and Sweden.

This event was a celebration of the translation and cataloguing of over 400 Australian children's books into 30 languages at the Lu Rees Archives of Australian Children's Literature. This event was also held to acknowledge those who have donated to the Archives.

Guests in attendance were thrilled with the arrival of our guest speaker, Emily Rodda, who spoke about "Australian Children's Books in Many Languages". Emily Rodda has won the Children's Book of the Year award 5 times and has written over 50 works for young children.

On exhibition at the event were over 20 illustrations from Australian artists among other translated books from the Lu Rees Archives.
