Senior Account Manager, MJW Advertising

2004 - graduated with a Bachelor of Communication in Advertising and Marketing Communication from the University of Canberra.

“UC has one of the best communication schools in Australia. It’s got a great reputation in the industry and UC graduates are always highly looked upon. The degree provided a unique insight into specific job functions, so that after graduating, I already knew exactly what to expect and there were few surprises!

I participated in as many extracurricular activities as I could, including industry events, seminars, and field trips. These all provided excellent networking opportunities and I made a lot of contacts, eventually landing a job in one of the top advertising agencies in Australia.”

I always wanted to be the lead singer in a band, but as a fall back I wanted to be a news reporter, in the end I decided advertising would be far more exciting.

My best memories of UC are the industry field trips to Sydney and Melbourne. We had so much fun and met some amazing people in the industry … some of whom I work with now!

My first job out of uni was as an Account Executive at Publicis Mojo, working on the Hewlett Packard account.

My career highlight was seeing my first campaign running, and knowing how much hard work had gone into it to bring it to life!

After this, seeing my first TV commercial go to air.

Today I am working as in the MJW Advertising Account Management team.  I manage the NSW Division of Stockland Shopping Centres, which is lots of fun dealing with a range of different people, but very busy!

In the future I want to be well travelled with a wealth of knowledge from all over the world.

AND JUST FOR FUN...

My hero is my mum (so clichéd I know!)

My favourite food is tapas, and any savoury food I can pick at.

My favourite band is at the moment either The Strokes or Bloc Party.

The book I’m reading at the moment is Differentiate or Die by Jack Trout and Where the Suckers Moon by Randall Rothenberg.

If I ruled the world I would insist on long lunches and siestas in every country.
