UC Accelerate
UC Accelerate – a HECS-free head start at the University of Canberra for students in Years 11 and 12
UC Accelerate is our University Extension Program for senior secondary students.
UC Accelerate is the University of Canberra’s University Extension Program. It offers up to two university units to Year 11 and 12 students. UC Accelerate is available to students nominated by their school or college Principal as having the potential and motivation to undertake university study.
Through UC Accelerate, capable students can experience tertiary studies and University life while they’re still at school.
University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Parker said the scheme is designed to encourage college students in the capital region to discover the advantages of higher education by introducing them to university life.
“As Australia’s Capital University we are committed to giving students in our region access to the best education and the opportunity to realise their potential,” he said. “The UC Accelerate program is a great way for year 12 students to get a taste of how exciting, friendly and relevant university study can be.”
Successful students can use their UC Accelerate results as a basis for admission to a University of Canberra degree. Successful students may also receive academic credit for up to two units (6 credit points) towards a related degree.
The biggest bonus for students and parents is that enrolment in UC Accelerate is free for 2009 and will not incur a HECS debt, which is a great saving!
Principals at every college in the ACT and Queanbeyan can nominate students for the program.
