Reconciliation

Building Relationships

At the University of Canberra we are committed to improving the tertiary education outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and to building stronger relationships between non Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

Reconciliation is an important aspect of our culture of inclusiveness, and forms 1 of the 3 main objectives of our Strategic Plan:

  • To contribute to the building of fair, prosperous and sustainable communities which are respectful of their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander past and committed to redressing disadvantage.

Reconciliation Action Plan

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) aims to:

  • identify and pursue opportunities to advance reconciliation as a part of our core teaching and research activities
  • encourage meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities based on respect for their cultures, knowledge and beliefs.

The Government's RAP program helps organisations develop strategies to contribute to reconciliation and build strong relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all other Australians.
