05 August 2014: The University of Canberra Capitals continue to bolster their team ahead of the upcoming 2014/15 WNBL season, re-signing Carly Wilson on a one-year deal.

The 32-year-old said she is excited about the upcoming season, which will be her sixth for Canberra.

"With the move to the University of Canberra and the great recruiting that has been going on in the off-season there is a definite buzz around the club and an excitement about the upcoming season," Wilson said. "I am really pleased I will be a part of what will hopefully be a kind of rebirth for the team."

"I know what it is like to win a championship with the University of Canberra Capitals and I also know what it is like to miss out on the finals. I feel I have a responsibility to help the team get back to the top of the table where we were for so many years."

Head coach Carrie Graf said: "Carly's basketball IQ, experience and versatility to play numerous positions make her a valuable re-signing for the University of Canberra Capitals."

Wilson started her WNBL career with the Dandenong Rangers in 1998 at age 16. She played for the Australian Institute of Sport, Perth Lynx and the French team Challes-les-Eaux before joining Canberra in 2009.

She was a member of the gold-medal winning Opals team at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the 2006 and 2010 FIBA Oceania Championships World Championship qualifiers and competed in the 2012 London Olympic Games qualifying tournament.

The University of Canberra Capitals were established on 16 May, taking over from Canberra's former WNBL team. The Canberra WNBL franchise is based at the University's Sporting Commons.
