The University of Canberra continues to rise in the world rankings, to be placed 193rd in the world and 10th in Australia.

The 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, released on Thursdayshow the University has jumped 69 places to 193, up from 251-300 in 2019.

The University is now ranked well within the top 1% of universities globally, having shown an improvement across all the indicators, reflecting the University’s balanced approach to all its endeavours.

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Deep Saini said the result was particularly impressive for a young university.

“This result confirms the steady strengthening of the quality at the University of Canberra, thanks to the outstanding work of our research, teaching and professional staff,” Professor Saini said.

This upwards trajectory can further be attributed to improvements in research and teaching influence and impact. The University scored 99.2 out of 100 points for citation impact up from 95 in 2019, which places the University at 16th in the world in citations.

“The increase in citation impact is indicative of the quality of research undertaken at the University, coupled with a rapid growth in influence and reach, and has positioned the University as amongst the best in the world,” Professor Saini said. “It is evident that our researchers are demonstrating impact and providing solutions to real-world problems.”

The University has risen steadily in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings since it entered in 2016, first placing in the 501-600 band before jumping to 401-500 in 2017 and 351-400 in 2018.
