UC welcomes UC Public Hospital and clinical school funding

6 June 2017: The University of Canberra today welcomes key health measures outlined in the 2017/18 ACT budget which will fund a new clinical school and ensure the new University of Canberra Public Hospital is operational from next year.

The ACT Government has allocated $2.7 million to establish a clinical school for nursing, midwifery and allied health at the University.

An additional $16.1 million will be spent on ensuring the University of Canberra Public Hospital, which is located on the University’s Bruce campus, opens to the public in 2018.

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Deep Saini welcomed the funding, saying students and staff would benefit from the state-of-the-art facilities on campus.

“We’re pleased that the ACT Government continues to invest in health infrastructure, partnerships and training to support not only members of the community, but members of the future health workforce,” Professor Saini said.

“The University of Canberra is committed to the education of members of this fast-growing industry and this funding will ensure we are able to continue producing career-ready graduates.”
