Geoff is a career change teacher with 11 years’ experience in the A.C.T public and private school system working across both the high school and college sectors. He has been a classroom teacher in the social and behavioural sciences, specialising in Psychology, where he has taught both in the A.C.T Senior Secondary Certificate and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). He has advanced accreditation as an IBDP teacher. He has chaired the course writing panel for the new A.C.T Psychology course and was lead course writer of the new A.C.T Sociology course as well as contributing to the development of an interdisciplinary inquiry project course.
Geoff has a particular interest in character education initiatives with extensive experience developing and running experiential learning opportunities for students beyond the classroom. He has also developed student-driven mental health and wellbeing initiatives based on the work of Affirm and the Centre for Mental Health Research at the ANU.
Geoff remains a registered teacher in the ACT and in 2017 joins the ESTeM faculty in the undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programs. He is currently undertaking a professional doctorate on teacher pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) in civics and citizenship education and the integration of ethical understanding and personal & social capabilities.
Geoff has been able to bring broad experience to his teaching career, including government and corporate experience.
