Peter is a mathematician with wide experience in university teaching, research and administration. He received his BSc and PhD degrees in mathematics at the University of Sydney. His publications are mainly in the area of the geometry of differential equations. Besides differential equations and differential geometry, other research interests include symbolic computation in differential geometry, geometric control theory and mathematical physics. He is a reviewer for the international review journal Mathematical Reviews of the American Mathematical Society and a referee for approximately 20 mathematical research journals. Peter is currently the Program Director for Mathematics and Statistics Program within the Faculty of Education, Science, Technology and Mathematics (ESTeM) and Associate Professor in Mathematics. He was a visiting professor at Utah State University in 2002, invited speaker at the Workshop on Exterior Differential Systems and Method of Equivalence, Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, Berkeley, California, U.S.A. in 2008, the Workshop on Advances in the Theory of Control Signals and Systems with Physical Modeling, Centre Interfacultaire Bernoulli, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland in 2009 and the conference Differential Geometry and its Applications (Special Session on Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Physics), Brno (Czech Rep.) in 2013. Other interests include history, particularly the history of science and mathematics, politics and literature.
