The Faculty of Education, Science, Technology and Mathematics provides courses that are designed to meet the rapidly changing demands of the job market.
The only faculty of its kind in Australia, the Faculty of ESTeM brings together interdisciplinary synergies from the different disciplines of Education, Science, Technology and Mathematics in our programs, research and innovation.
We offer cross disciplinary courses in primary and secondary teaching, science, medical science, forensics, environmental science, biomedical science, information technology, software engineering, network engineering and mathematics.
All of these courses benefit from the strong relationships between Education and STEM. STEM disciplines benefit from leading Education and Mathematics research, and Education courses include specialisations in Science, Mathematics and Technology teaching. Science courses are able to be combined with Education studies, Communications or Law ensuring graduates have plenty of flexibility to accommodate a wide variety of study and career goals.
Strong ties and ongoing consultation with government, industry and the community ensures that our courses reflect the needs of employers and that our graduates are equipped with the skills they need to be in high demand.
The Education program area offers new and redeveloped courses specialising in Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary, in line with new national requirements for teacher registration. We work closely with our professional and industry partners to ensure that all of our degree programs combine the best of practice, new knowledge, and innovative teaching and learning. All initial teacher education courses have been accredited by the ACT Teacher Quality Institute and are recognised as such across Australia.
The Science program area brings together an interdisciplinary team of leading educators and researchers to provide the very best opportunities for you to progress toward a rewarding career in the Applied Sciences. There is a focus on the Biomedical Sciences, General Sciences, Forensic Studies and the Environmental Sciences. You will be taught by experienced practitioners who have strong connections with government, industry and the community in general and with potential employers.
The Technology and Mathematics program area provides courses that are designed to meet the rapidly changing demands of the job market. Strong ties and ongoing consultation with the Information Technology and Engineering industry ensures our courses reflect the needs of employers. Our Information Technology and Engineering students have won the Australian Microsoft Imagine Cup five times in the last seven years and are consistently awarded a five-star rating for flexibility and graduate employability by the Good Universities Guide. All Information Technology and Engineering courses are designed to meet the requirements for accreditation with the relevant professional bodies (Australian Computer Society and Engineers Australia).
