Transitional arrangements for current students

From Semester 2 2014 the Faculty of Business, Government & Law will introduce a range of new and revised postgraduate coursework programs. These programs comply with the requirements of the revised Australian Qualification Framework and provide students with a range of new areas of study. Information on these new courses is available on the main BGL Postgraduate Courses page.

Students currently enrolled in a Masters Degree program

Students who commenced study in a BGL Masters degree in Semester 1 2014 or earlier are able to continue study in that program under the rules in place at the time they commenced. There is no requirement for these students to transfer to one of the new courses. Continuing students may choose to apply to transfer to one of the new programs if they choose however are under no obligation to do so.

Students currently enrolled in a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma program

Due to changes in the Australian Qualifications Framework, Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma programs will no longer provide advanced standing into BGL Masters degrees available from 2015.

Students currently enrolled in a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma as a pathway towards a Masters degree will need to transfer to the relevant Masters degree for Semester 2 2014. The BGL Course Convenor team can assist students in arranging this transfer. Students who transfer to a Masters degree will still have the opportunity to exit with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma if they choose to do so at a later date.

Students currently enrolled in a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma without the intention to transition into a Masters degree are able to remain in their existing program under the current rules. The following links can be used to access the course rules for continuing students:

Students who have previously completed a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma and intend to apply for credit towards a Masters degree qualification

Due to the changes in the Australian Qualifications Framework students who have previously studied a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma and are intending to re-enter study and seek advanced standing for a Masters degree will need to have commenced study in the Masters degree prior to January 2015. As such students will need to have entered a Masters degree and attempted at least one unit of study during 2014. Students interested in taking up this option should apply to the university for entry into a Masters degree via direct application.
