Biography

Eddi Pianca lectures in Industrial Design with particular interest in high level CAD, which he introduced into the course, advances in design technology and the blending of design with engineering and human perception.

At the University he maintains close contacts with industry; through regular collaborative student projects and occasional design consultancy work. Eddi has a PhD in Environmental Design from the University of Canberra. His thesis provided tentative evidence that a complex full body activity learnt via simulation can be transferred into the real world. The importance of the research demonstrated that the existing benefits of simulators in areas such as aviation and medicine can also be applied to learning whole-body complex skills.

In 2008, together with industrial design colleagues (Don Carson, Stephen Trathen and Chris Hardy), he received a University of Canberra citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning.
