UC re-dedicates Foundation Stone
27 October 2008: The University of Canberra 40th anniversary celebrations will culminate this week. Tomorrow, the University will host the re-dedication of the University Foundation Stone and the 2008 Don Aitkin Lecture. On Friday and Saturday the world’s longest running campus music festival; Stonefest will bring to a close the 40th anniversary celebrations.
Stone Fairy returns to UC
24 October 2008: Thirty four years after she surprised a former Prime Minister and started a legend, the ‘Stone Fairy’ has returned to the University of Canberra to re-enact her involvement in the Re-dedication of the Foundation stone.
300 return to UC for 40th anniversary reunion dinner
21 October 2008: More than 300 alumni along with current and former staff attended the University of Canberra’s 40th Anniversary Reunion Dinner on Saturday 18 October. The guests included former Vice-Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Don Aitkin, former Principal, Emeritus Professor Roger Scott and current University of Canberra Chancellor, Professor Ingrid Moses.
Former Chief of Army heads new institute at UC
7 October 2008: The University of Canberra is to establish a National Security Institute under the directorship of the former Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Peter Leahy.

27 August 2008: Recently appointed University of Canberra Alumni Manager, Leigh Watson has called on staff to participate in the 2008 - Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Planning course to shape the future
11 August 2008: The University of Canberra’s new Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning will give graduates the skills to balance social, environmental and economic issues as Australia plans its future development.
UC graduate achieves world championship
6 August 2008: University of Canberra graduate Michelle Wu has claimed the 2008 World Age Group Triathlon title. Ms Wu took the title with a win in Vancouver following wins at the Canberra Capital Triathlon, Hobart International Triathlon and a second in the Olympic distance championships in Perth.
UC graduate named nurse of the year
23 July 2008: Barbara Harvie has been awarded the honour of Nurse of the Year at the ACT Nursing and Midwifery Awards and was also named as an Operation Angel during Kidney Health Week 2008.
Graduate watches over ‘National Happiness’
15 May 2008: In the small Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, progress is measured in terms of the Gross National Happiness (GNH) rather than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and responsibility for directing and monitoring this Happiness sits with a University of Canberra MBA graduate.
UC graduate awarded $10,000 scholarship
28 April 2008: University of Canberra researcher and Honours student Amanda Choo is one of only two graduates in the ACT, to be awarded the inaugural Medical Advances Without Animals Trust MAWA Quinn Honours Scholarship.
