Centre for Creative and Cultural Research

The Centre for Creative and Cultural Research (CCCR) brings together staff, adjuncts, research students and visiting fellows who work on key challenges within the cultural sector and creative field. A central feature of our research concerns the effects of digitisation and globalisation on cultural producers, whether individuals, communities or organisations.

News and Media Research Centre

The News and Media Research Centre (N&MRC) undertakes research which monitors the impact of digital media technologies on society. We assess the continuing influence of media content in shaping the way we communicate with each other and understand the world around us, particularly in relation to key issues such as health and the environment.

The Centre for Sustainable Communities (CSC) aims to contribute to sustainable social, cultural and economic development by providing research and professional development services to communities, government and the private sector.

STEM Education Research Centre

The STEM Education Research Centre (SERC) focuses on innovations in technology and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education research. Our mission is to influence policy and practice through applied social and cognitive research situated within contextually-bounded settings. Our research covers three overarching themes:

Policy and Leadership: Comparative Studies
Learning Environments and Communities: Design Processes and Digital Technologies.

Centre for Conservation Ecology and Genomics

The Centre for Conservation Ecology and Genomics (CCEG) is committed to society’s goal of inter-generational equity, whereby we have a commitment to leave the environment at least as diverse, healthy and productive as it is now, for future generations.

Centre for Applied Water Science

The Centre for Applied Water Science (CAWS) aspires to be a national and international leader in applying the best science to achieving solutions to water management challenges. Building on the experience and capabilities present at UC and leveraging off existing networks and funding, CAWS will establish the university as an international leader in research and knowledge-generation in the area of ‘managed waters’.

Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance

The Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance is the world-leading research centre for the study of deliberative democracy. It currently has nine full-time academic staff, seven PhD students, and two adjunct professors working on a diverse range of theoretical and empirical projects related to deliberative democracy.

The Centre for Environmental Governance (CEG) is a vibrant research centre located within the the Faculty of Business, Government and Law (BGL).

50/50 by 2030 Foundation

The 50/50 by 2030 Foundation was a research-based gender equality initiative at the University of Canberra within the Faculty of Business, Government and Law.

National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling

The National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM) was founded in January 1993 by Professor Ann Harding. As an affiliated research centre of the University of Canberra, NATSEM came to be known as one of Australia’s leading economic and social policy research institutes.

Research Institute for Sport and Exercise

The University of Canberra Research Institute for Sport and Exercise (RISE) is a research and innovation institute bringing together staff from a wide variety of academic disciplines around the theme of sport and exercise. It has been created to support the University's sporting aspirations through strategic planning and leadership, the co-ordination of sport-related research, consultancy across its faculties and the development of external partnerships.

Health Research Institute

Excellence in research is at the core of our vision for the Health Research Institute (HRI) which brings together University-wide expertise in clinical sciences, public health, urban planning, and health services research across the continuum of 'whole of person health to whole of population' (Melodi Licht 2007). HRI consolidates and showcases the University's health research strengths, building the scale, scope, sustainability and infrastructure necessary to support world-class health research and to take it to the world.

HEAL Global Research Centre

The Health Environments and Lives (HEAL) Network is a broad coalition of 100 investigators and more than 30 organisations from across Australia that aims to bridge the gap between knowledge and action by bringing together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wisdom, sustainable development, epidemiology, and data science and communication to address environmental and climate change and its impacts on health across all Australian states and territories. The HEAL Global Research Centre is located within the Health Research Institute.

Centre for Ageing Research and Translation

The Centre for Ageing Research and Translation (CARAT) hosts a multidisciplinary health and social sciences research team with a focus on living to age well and ageing to live well. Their work targets the evidence base underpinning practices, programs and policies that affect the health and well-being of older people whether they live in their own homes, with family, in residential care or elsewhere.
